That Unplanned Destination
You know, yesterday I went on a road trip to nowhere.
I woke up early in the morning to the birds chirping at my window.
Freshened up, I packed all the essentials for the trip, smiling, thinking of the pleasant uncertainties lying ahead.
My bike was shined & ready to glide on the highway as I tied the backpack onto the pillion seat.
The first sunlight of the day rushed to caress my face as I put the throttle to roll.
I had nothing planned for this trip, no destination, no stoppings, no expectations, nothing but experience, as it may come.
As I hit the highway, my eyes witnessed nature doing its morning chores while bathing itself in the golden spread of the sun.
Birds, up above, raced with me as they beautifully flocked together creating a mesmerizing skyscape with cotton clouds in the background.
While below, moving straight, I was trying hard to confine my brain within, but couldn't hold it to spread its wings to explore the forbidden terrains of the Subconscious.
When ventured, it looked more like a scene after a music festival, isolated & deserted, with memories as plastic bottles & expectations as flyers lying here and there, while thunderous dark clouds gave hope filling the atmosphere for an upcoming afterparty.
I wanted to collect all those beautiful bottles, scrub off the dirt and place them close to my heart.
I wanted to catch those flyers as they passed off me, read them to know what one said, of the many rustic and torn up flyers.
And as I reached my hands to one of those bottles, other ones started to rumble and circled around me, like iron pellets behave near a magnet.
As I grabbed one of those flyers, other ones danced around me like a whirlpool, engulfing me in their affection.
I blinked and a hidden force pushed me out to a place that resembled a fairyland, where rainbow flowers carpeted the earth, spreading their aroma to attract those butterflies, fluttering around.
I got down to pluck one, but that rainbow flower withered as I touched its petals, bending as if saying sorry to me.
"These are our dreams.", I heard a sound from behind.
I looked back to find no one.
"Was it that butterfly?", I thought.
I got up and walked ahead to explore more. I turned right, and I saw a palace.
As I moved towards that palace to venture out more, I saw me, down below on earth, lying beside my bike, blood oozing out of my skull, as people clamored & surrounded me taking pictures of me.
I think I have reached my unplanned destination.
