The New Beginnings Again (2019)

“New Life New Beginnings” – this was the status I put across on my social media profiles when I got placed and started to work at Infosys almost 5 years back (2014). I was thrilled and excited to work in the corporates. Saying goodbye to my college life, I went ahead to create new experiences at Infosys. Mysore welcomed me with a jaw-dropping look on my face and stepped in to enjoy the second golden period of my life.

Life at Infosys was very different from what it used to be in college. Apart from learning different programming languages, I learned people management, as in I learned whom to approach, when to approach, and how to approach. Basically, Infosys gave me the training to survive in the corporate world. Being the first employer, Infosys will always remain very close to my heart.

Years passed, and it was time for me to say goodbye to Infosys. My colleagues at Infosys flocked together and gave me well wishes for my future and I walked ahead making friends and building memories.

With a broken leg and a determination to do something, I recovered in a month before I joined S.K Enterprises as a Sales and Marketing Manager. I overlooked the business, which was small, but it came big to me with all the things it taught me about business over the next few months. And, that was the PLAN- to learn business basics before I go for my management studies.

Meanwhile, I started applying to different fellowship programs like SBI Youth For India, Gandhi Fellowship. I wanted to do something for society and in return, I was hoping to get some experience that could be used later in my life. Although I could not make it through any interviews. I also applied to different business schools outside India. There, too, I met with failures. Though it jolted me, I, however, did not let myself down and started to focus on what I wanted to achieve. It was then when I started to read a lot. Reading followed writing. This new inculcated habit gave me different perspectives on different topics and helped me to analyze things better.

Cut to IFMR-GSB. I joined here at IFMR-GSB as a management student in 2017. With the new location, new friends, I started to learn new things in Business Management. A sharp analytical brain started to form in me. Be it late-night case discussions or long debates on politics or arguments on economic issues, numerous and continuous experiences like this made my two-year MBA a colorful one.

Moreover, the life at IFMR-GSB had been dull, had I not met with Kabyayan, Shraddha Mittal Manish Gogoi- super talented persons and good human beings, with whom even a fight can be a learning. I will miss their contributions and company. I thank professor Muralidharan V – to ignite entrepreneurial aspirations in me, Chandrashekhar RC - to make me look things like a consultant, Sathya Ramachandran - to make me realize the creative side of me. I also thank other professors whose contributions were as important as others in crafting me into a business professional.

Standing at a junction of starting my career once again, I look back at the time when I started my career initially in 2014. These five years have been full of experiences, failures, learnings, new people, and new perspectives. I hope the future to be the same.
